PEOPLE

Devender is the founding Dean of the School of Fashion (SOF) at World University of Design, Rai, India. He is a Fashion Design graduate of NIFT and a post graduate of London College of fashion, UK. Kharb has over 12 years of experience in academics and over 20 years work experience as a Buyer, merchandiser and designer of luxury fashion goods in Europe’s design houses and high street suppliers in South Asia and design studios in India. His work has been exhibited at trade fares and private events across Europe. He has been a design consultant to many international companies and chain of stores in the UK. He represented the UK at Concours International des JeunesCreateurs de Mode (2004) Paris, France. He was one of the founders and the creative head of ‘The Infusion Store’, an e-commerce platform for contemporary Asian fashion in Europe between 2010 and 2013.

Prof. Navaid Mehtab is a fashion educator, stylist, photographer, and art director with over two decades of experience across academia, e-learning, and the fashion industry. A postgraduate in Knitwear Design & Technology from NIFT, he has held senior roles at institutions such as Pearl Academy and NIFT Mumbai, where he led fashion styling, illustration, knitwear design, and curriculum development. His industry practice spans creative direction, photography, and styling for brands including Raymonds, FabIndia, Benetton, and Amazon. He also served as Academic Head at The Designer’s Class, an EdTech platform offering celebrity-led design education. Navaid brings to WUD a rare blend of creative versatility and pedagogical depth, mentoring students in styling, digital presentation, fashion photography, and conceptual design.

Prof. John Varghese is a textile designer and educator with a postgraduate degree from NIFT Delhi and additional training from the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, UK. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked with renowned brands and organizations such as Oxfam, Anju Modi, Ralph Lauren Home, Habitat UK, and Donna Karan NY. His multidisciplinary approach blends textile expertise with a love for literature, music, and art, enriching his pedagogy at WUD.

Satya Suman, is a Fashion Designer who has gained experience working with the some of the leading talents in the Fashion industry such as Alexander McQueen, Giorgio Armani (Black)and JJ Valaya. During his career he has dressed many celebrities like Madonna, Bjork, Gwen Stefani, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Simon Costin to name a few, And has worked with renowned brands like national /international Globus, Puma and Swarovski Pte. Ltd. (Chennai). Satya is an alumnus of NIFT, Delhi, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art And Design BA (Hons.) Fashion, and recognized Designer Member for Fashion Design Council of India with a number of designs patent under his name.

Prof. Atul Maurya is an alumnus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi and a postgraduate from Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. He has more than 13 years of experience in the design industry. He began his career as a designer at Entasis India, followed by domestic and international fashion export houses then worked with brands such as Lacoste and Benetton India. Furthermore, he has worked on projects in varied fields of Retail space design, Set Design, Visual Merchandising, fashion accessories & Footwear Design. An avid traveller, he brings his outdoor experiences into the classroom where he teaches Cultural Studies, Materials & Technical Studies and Space Design. He provides mentorship to students in their extracurricular activities as well. Atul Maurya has a keen interest in the development of curriculum and pedagogical methods which are based on learning by doing practices. His commitment to academics and exploration of global emerging trends and brand building strategies makes him a valuable contributor to the educational landscape at World University of Design.

A Visual Artist working with a multidisciplinary approach, Suresh has worked areas in many Universities in India as an art educator. He graduated from Rajasthan School of Arts, Jaipur and did his masters from M.S. University, Vadodara. Suresh Kumar is a Prolific Painter, having 20 years of experience in multidisciplinary Art. He has won the National Scholarship (HRD); Mohammedi Nasreen Merit Scholarship from M.S. University; State award & State Student Award, L.K.A Rajasthan; Best Student & Merit Award from Raj. School of Arts, Jaipur; Young Artist Award, Jawahar Kala Kendra; and has participated in many art camps & art residency, galleries and organisation.

Haninder is a visual artist and art educator. He has studied Applied Arts (B.F.A.) from College of Arts, Govt. of NCT and Animation Film Design (PGDPD) from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Gujrat. He has taught Art and Design to all age groups from primary schools to post graduate design students (IGCSE, IB PYP, IB MYP, IB DP). As a designer his projects include book design, illustrations, Graphic novels, commissioned artworks and hand carved wooden products.

An alumnus of Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, Anshika has been a design academician for over a decade. A knowledge enthusiast, she consistently excelled in her education, achieving the status of a Gold and Silver Medalist. Her educational background and further learning have made her proficient in teaching subjects such as textile science, wet-processing, surface design techniques, draping, and pattern-making

Her passion for Indian crafts and natural dyes led her to research and explore this domain, resulting in 15 certificates of registration of design from the Patent Office of the GOI for student projects under her supervision. She is also a panel expert with PSSCIVE Bhopal, contributing to the development of curriculum and textbooks for 11th and 12th grade vocational education. Additionally, she also writes for various newspapers and digital platforms on contemporary industry practices and current trends.

She was also associated with AKTU University, Lucknow, and Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun.

Dr. Vidushi Vashishth is an Associate Professor with a PhD in Omnichannel Retailing. Her expertise in sustainability, merchandising, and marketing is built on 10 years of industry experience with Shahi Exports and Upcycleluxe, managing global brands like Uniqlo, H&M, and Target. She collaborates with Texas-based AKFI on ESG-focused research and has published in Scopus-indexed and UGC Care-listed journals. Her academic work bridges industry relevance and research-driven innovation.

Pankaj brings along with him 16 years of experience as a design/ creative professional and more than 9 years of experience in the field of academics/ design educator. He graduated from NIFT Gandhinagar and has worked with major design houses and runs his own fashion brand. His work has been showcased in fashion shows India and abroad.
Pankaj is a passionate educator who believes in imparting the best of his learnings in the most relevant way to future designer to prepare them for a professional environment. He has used his comprehensive, practical knowledge along with understanding of various design ideas & philosophies to develop courses, build ideas that ensure holistic growth with learning of young designers as well as the overall development of the organization.

He is a seasoned Photojournalist with over 25 years of experience in capturing the most iconic moments of India's history. Born and brought up in Chandigarh, he has worked for some of the most reputed newspapers and organizations in the country like Avalanche Magazine, The Indian Express, The Times of India, and The Tribune.
Some of his notable coverage includes the visits of British Royal Couple Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla Parker to Punjab, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's visit to India, French President's visit to India, and the Indian Premier League (IPL- all series till 2016). Covered T-20 World Cup (2007), Davis Cup in 2016, International PHL Hockey league.
He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Graphics from Government College of Arts, Chandigarh, with First Division in 1997. And since then participated in many photography exhibitions, conducted lectures and workshops at various institutes around the country.

Satya Vijay completed has Post Graduation (MFA) in Printmaking from College of Art, University of Delhi and BFA from Faculty of Fine Arts (Painting), Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi. His experience in Fine Art (Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture) adds unique perspectives to his creative projections in a very expressive manner. With rich experience in Realistic, Semi-Realistic and abstract painting techniques, he has exhibited his artworks at many national and international venues. His creations have also been collected by national and international museums. His decade long experience in the field of art education, inspires him to give his best to the young Art & Design learners.

S K Satyam is an Alumni of National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi and Indian Institute of Craft & Design, Jaipur with a Bachelor in fashion design and Masters in Craft and textiles respectively. He has been associated with the field of design for the last 10 years now working for brands like Vero-Moda, Only, Vila, Tom Tailor etc. He got associated with NIFT, Patna in 2016 as an educator to share his knowledge and understanding about design. He also developed a keen interest in studying and researching various crafts of India and have been studying the people associated with it and the intrinsic value they possess in association with craft. He has also, been writing articles on them and studying further ahead to encapsulate indigenous way of Indian lifestyle.

Ankit is a graduate of DYPDC Center Of Automobile Research & Studies, Pune with masters in Automobile Designing and a gold medalist from his batch. Ankit Soni was the lead designer at GUGU Electric Bike and also worked with startups like MFable Creative Lab. His core domain is automobile designing.

With a degree in Interior Design from Punjab Technical University and subsequent Masters in Social Design from Ambedkar University, Karan is an accomplished designer, who works with the requisites of space, resources, and environmental management. His areas of interest include the psychology and philosophy of home, sustainable living, social issues and rights to the city.

Garima Malik is a dynamic academic and researcher with a Ph.D. in Tribal Crafts from Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. Her expertise spans Textile Science and testing, 3D Fashion Design (CLO-3D), Sustainable Craft Practices, and Fashion Marketing, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation. An empanelled lecturer with NIOS E-Vidhya Channel and a Central University examination member, she actively contributes to design education and assessment frameworks. With industry-aligned teaching experience at premier textile and fashion institutions, she specializes in fashion marketing, CLO 3D designing, and textile crafts upliftment. She has more than 5 publications in UGC-approved journals and presentations at international conferences. With a passion for sustainable textiles, and cultural textile heritage, she tries to bridge academia and industry needs to foster creative, eco-conscious design solutions.


Sonjoy is a multi-disciplinary artist. He has a background of fine arts (visual arts), advertising and films background. After completing his 4 years graduation from College of Art, New Delhi, he worked in a few reputed advertising agencies in the creative department. He did a 3 years Post Graduation in Cinema with specialization in Cinematography (Motion Picture Photography) from SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute), Kolkata.


Assistant Professor Shubham Saurabh is a graphic designer and MIT Institute of Design alumnus with six years of experience across academia and industry. His areas of expertise include branding, semiotics, book design, typography, and concept art. A passionate educator and visual philosopher, he explores human behavior, symbolism, and perception through creative storytelling and believes that teaching must engage, entertain, and inspire.


Divya is a Textile Design graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Patna and has a post graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Craft and Design.
Divya has gained valuable industry experience at companies such as Ratan Textiles, Sarita Handa, and Hilo Design, where she worked with renowned brands like Zara, Anthropologie, and Urban Outfitters. She is a craft enthusiast and has completed NGO projects with AAICA, focusing on crafts such as Phulkari and Zardozi.
Her research interests are sustainability and integrated design. Additionally, she has authored two research papers in the field and is eager to delve deeper into research design and methodologies as well as innovative research projects. Her work demonstrates a commitment to advancing knowledge and improving practices in her area of expertise.

An award-winning NIFT alumna with an MA in Fashion from Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada. Aditi is deeply committed to decolonizing the fashion curriculum. She brings a keen eye to how culture, identity, the fashioned body, and colonial overtones intricately shape sartorial choices.

During her Master's, she also worked as a graduate research assistant and mentored undergraduates, introducing them to diverse Design Thinking methodologies. She taught subjects including Indigenous Fashion, Fashion and Race, Redefining and Reclaiming Fashion History, and Design Thinking, Process, and Methodology. Aditi believes storytelling is central to fashion and is currently focused on practice-based research to deepen her understanding and contributions to the field.

Praveen Kumar Tiwari has a background in textile weaving, dyeing, printing, and education, spanning over four decades. They hold certifications in Carpet Weaving Technology, Handloom Weaving Technology, Power Loom (Inst./Sup) Weaving, and Calico Printing Technology Training from various Indian institutions.

Their career includes roles in education and consulting. They served as a Lecturer/Institute In the Textile Department at International Polytechnic for Women's (1987-1988) and as a P.G.T. (Visiting Faculty) Vocational Teacher in the Department of Textile and Design at Government Coed Senior Secondary School, Lajpat Nagar, from 1988 until September 2023. For the past two years, they have been a Visiting Lecturer in the Fashion & Textiles Department at World School of Design, Sonipat. Additionally, they have worked as a Consultant for Sai Exporter, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Their experience combines textile manufacturing processes with teaching.

Meenakshi Singh is a seasoned freelance Fashion Illustrator and Visiting Professor with over 32 years of experience specializing in fashion illustration.She has taught at leading design institutions including NIFT New Delhi, World University of Design in Sonipat, and IICD Jaipur. Meenakshi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Allahabad University (1982) and a Diploma in Fashion Design (1988).

She further honed her skills through a summer program in Fashion Illustration and Basic Design at FIT, New York. Passionate about visual storytelling through fashion, she continues to inspire emerging designers with her expertise and dedication to the art of illustration.

Upasana Bhakuni graduated from NIFT 1992 FD batch with the Best Womenswear Collection Award and launched her label in 1994 with Heritage , South Ex Delhi . The label was also retailed at Ensemble , Ogaan and Karma to name a few . Meanwhile she has been working with weavers to develop her handloom woven collection of sarees and shawls besides being a passionate teacher as a Guest Faculty and Jury member for NIFT , Pearl and various other Fashion Institutes. Presently she is curating aesthetic Pret collections with Zero Waste concept.

Tanya Pahwa is an architect and educator with over 14 years of experience in sustainable architecture and design education. She holds a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Ganga Institute of Architecture & Town Planning and a Bachelor’s from DCR University of Science and Technology. As Founder of Indigenous Design Lab, she has led award-winning green projects, including a bio-climatic school in Vadodara, and co-authored the book Green is Red. At WUD, she leads workshops on sustainable building systems and architectural storytelling through environmental sensitivity.

Rachita Sahay is a digital branding and marketing expert, and Founder of The Artboard Agency, a boutique creative studio specializing in digital storytelling, Meta advertising, and social media campaigns. An alumna of Pearl Academy and Nottingham Trent University, she has worked with over 35 brands across fashion, lifestyle, beauty, and food, translating design vision into strategic digital growth. He has styled prominent actors like Raj Kummar Rao and Priyanka Bose, and worked as a style assistant for designer Manish Malhotra on major films. His editorial career includes styling for L'Officiel India and FHM India, where he interviewed icons such as Karl Lagerfeld. Dhruv holds degrees from the London College of Fashion and LASALLE COLLEGE, providing him with a strong academic foundation in fashion styling and marketing.

Uditanshu Pratap Singh is an award-winning industrial and UX designer currently working at Frog Design, India. A graduate in Industrial Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), he brings expertise in 3D modeling, UI/UX design, and brand strategy. His past roles include leading design at Zealoops and contributing to packaging and branding projects at Inverted Energy. Recognized as the Ignite Global Design Winner and TISDC Finalist, Uditanshu mentors students at WUD in human-centered product development and intuitive digital interfaces.
