Cultural & Social Life at WUD

At the World University of Design, campus life is as vibrant and dynamic as its classrooms. WUD celebrates diversity in the backgrounds of its students and faculty, recognizing that cultural and social activities are essential for shaping well-rounded designers and leaders. These experiences build confidence, foster communication skills, and nurture a progressive global outlook.

Student Clubs & Creative Communities: Students are encouraged to enroll & participate in a variety of activity clubs—Film Club, Music/ Dance/ Theatre clubs, Sports Club, Performing Arts Club, Photography & Visual Arts Club, Environment Club, and more. These platforms give students space to experiment, collaborate, and express themselves beyond their academic disciplines. Through various competitions or celebrations or activities like kite flying, Dandiya, Dahi Handi, DJ nights, the campus is a cultural & social hot spot.

CULT – WUD’s Annual Fest is a multi-day celebration of music, fashion, theatre, art, and sports, CULT draws participation from universities across Delhi NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and sometimes from abroad. It blends high-energy competitions, professional performances, and student showcases into a single immersive experience. Student teams from WUD regularly participate (and win) at other inter-college cultural fests, hackathons, and design challenges.

The campus offers a range of indoor and outdoor sporting opportunities ranging from Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, and Badminton, to indoor sports like Table Tennis, Chess, and Carrom. As part of CULT, WUD also organizes a competitive sports meet, besides hosting separately a Sonipat Soccer tournament.

WUD Gymnasium is equipped with free weights, cardio machines, resistance training equipment, and stretching areas.

WUD regularly hosts intellectual gatherings—from the National Artists’ Camp on “Unexplored Spaces” to the International Conference on Doctoral Education in Design in association with the European Academy of Design. It hosts international exchange students, AIESEC interns and experts who come to teach at WUD.

The WUD Student Council plays a central role in planning, organizing, and running campus activities, ensuring student voices shape cultural life. Through Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, students engage with nearby communities, applying design thinking to real-world social challenges.

A 1000-seat open-air theatre and smaller performance spaces host events ranging from music gigs to student-produced plays. The campus frequently hosts lectures, workshops, and masterclasses by eminent personalities: Prof. A. G. Krishna Menon (INTACH), Prof. Osmud Rehman (Ryerson University), Prof. Elizabeth Rose (University of Otago), Prof. Paul Inman (Oxford Brookes University), among many others.
