T he World University of Design is an emerging institution in a dynamic urban setting offering broad opportunities for interdisciplinary study and practice. The University of Design is offering interdisciplinary programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels in Art, Architecture, Design, Humanities, Management and other areas with a design foundation.

The World University of Design seeks faculty members engaged in active creative practice with a commitment to design education and research. Successful candidates will join a distinguished faculty to shape a rigorous studio-based curriculum which builds from skill-based form-making to interdisciplinary professional practice and includes design history, writing, and research. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to formal traditions within a context of current/emerging forms of design practice. Teaching responsibilities include fundamental and advanced undergraduate courses, graduate studios/seminars, and graduate thesis advising. In addition, faculty responsibilities include academic and administrative work of the School and University, graduate advising assignments and strong commitment to a sustained research/practice profile. Faculty appointments are open rank and will be filled depending on qualifications at the level of Assistant/Associate/ Professor. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education, credentials and experience. Appointments begin April 2016

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a terminal degree in art, design, architecture, or other closely related field, with a track record of design projects and/or scholarly research. Knowledge of contemporary issues in design, art, and architecture, including the expanding roles of design in contemporary society -- is essential. We are seeking people who are versatile, with capacity in design process at all levels, and skilled in digital techniques. Candidates wishing to be a part of a collaborative community that fosters independent thought and creativity, embraces the diversity of cultural expression, and cultivates excellence in the making and understanding of visual art will be preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Teach relevant courses including studio, theory and methods, at all undergraduate levels (the equivalent of 12-15 hours of courses per week each semester).
2. Advice and mentor students with regard to their coursework and professional planning.
3. Provide departmental leadership and coordination as needed.
4. Contribute to the development of a strong culture of research and a robust curriculum.
5. Maintain substantial creative and academic accomplishments in professional discipline including publications, exhibitions, and professional symposia.
6. Participate in administrative work and other services to the School or University, and work collaboratively within the WUD community.
7. Perform all other related activities as required.
8. Constructing student assessments, preparing examinations.
9. Holding regular office hours.
10. Participating in scientific research (applied or basic), consultation projects, professional training courses etc.
