Project Title – District Court Complex, Ladakh

The project proposes a District Court Complex in Leh, Ladakh, designed for the region’s cold and dry climate. It focuses on creating a functional and efficient judicial environment with comfort, security, and clear circulation. The design uses passive strategies like south orientation, courtyards, and thermal mass to maximize solar heat and reduce heat loss. A stepped, compact form helps retain heat and block cold winds. The planning ensures proper zoning by separating public, judges, staff, and prisoner movement. The complex includes courtrooms, administrative spaces, lawyers’ areas, services, and a judges’ wellness center. Sustainable landscape strategies are used to reduce water consumption and improve microclimate, while maintaining a formal institutional character.
