Project Title – Antardahan
Project Sponsor - SELF
Antardahan is a solo dance-drama that reinterprets the myth of Mohini, an avatar of Vishnu, and the demon Bhasmasura through a philosophical framework grounded in Indian thought. The work presents Bhasmasura as a representation of uncontrolled senses (indriyas) leading to self-destruction, while Mohini signifies atmabodha (self-awareness) and conscience that guide the individual toward balance. It draws on Chapter 3, Verse 42 of the Bhagavad Gita, which outlines the hierarchy of senses, mind, intellect, and the self, to structure its thematic concerns. The choreography explores the tension between sensory impulse and inner consciousness. Its movement vocabulary incorporates elements of marga nritta karanas, alongside influences from Odissi and Bharatanatyam. The musical score brings together curated compositions from traditional and cinematic sources, including works such as Mayabazar and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje.
