Project Title – Rupa Darisanam
Project Sponsor - Self Sponsored
Rupa Darisanam reinterprets the traditional varnam Roopamu Joochi, a piece rooted in both Sringara and Bhakti. Through original choreography and renewed Abhinaya, it shifts the focus entirely to spiritual seeking and surrender. Drawing from Advaita Vedanta, the Nayika becomes the soul yearning for union with the divine. The costume design, blending traditional and contemporary elements, along with an innovative hairstyle inspired by ancient temple traditions, further symbolize inner liberation. The stage transforms into a temple, where the dancer’s movements become the soul’s awakening mantra, offering Bharatanatyam as a space for transcendence and spiritual awakening.
