Project Title – Sarayu Riverfront Development (Ayodhya)
Project Sponsor – Ayodhya Development Authority
The Sarayu River, together with Lord Sri Ram, the Ramayana, and Ayodhya, are inextricably linked to Hinduism. Hindus are drawn to the riverbank because of the myths associated with the river, its Ghats, and temples. Bathing, meditation, donating, and cremation are all common recreational and religious activities here. However, the riverside requires quick attention to many issues ranging from environmental to lack of support infrastructure, amenities, encroachments, flooding, safety, and aesthetics, among others, as a result of rising urbanization, continual neglect, and misuse over many years.
