Graduation Project

Project Title – Puthunava
Project Sponsor – Aakriti the designer studio

“Puthunava” is a ready to wear ethnic collection that made specially for Vishu (the harvesting, cultural and traditional festival that celebrated in Kerala and the adjacent areas of Tamil Nadu). The inspiration for the theme is the centuries old Japanese art kint-sugi (technique of repairing old, broken pots and vessels by mending the breakages with pure gold powder and thereby exposing and enhancing the scars and damages). The aim is to create a collection of ethnic wear by using defective hand-woven cotton fabrics purchased from the weaver at market price and transform into a fresh and unique collection all the while keeping to the core of sustainability.
