Lighting Design is getting disrupted by emerging 3D printing possibilities

It has always been ┬áthe goal of 3D printing experts to be able to design a structure that is flexible and drapes like a fabric. When produced with a translucent material like Polyamide (Nylon), and used in design of a lighting fixture, the result is a mesmerising mix of textures and light filtering through the material’s partial transparency that varies with thickness. In this lamp, designed by Cozi Studio, 3D printed flexible, lace like fabric drapes gracefully over a spherical luminaire, producing a interesting product silhouette never seen before in lighting design.
