User may never know the designer but the designer knows the user already

Design is not about creating something pretty but it is about creating value. Design’s ability to beautify, simplify and add meaning to a product, adding value throughout the value chain from manufacturing through sales and distribution to the user. At its core, design is about improving the relevance of the design solutions that Design can deliver to the end user. Design is to optimize the product around the context of the product, objectives of developing it and the environment it would run in.

About School

The School of Design programs are about creativity for purpose - educating students to be design leaders who address real-world challenges through balancing high levels of creativity and technical capability with contextual insight and empathy for people.

The curriculum provides a platform for students to conceptualise and validate ideas by canvassing, provoking, challenging and questioning people, places, things and systems. Through team and individual projects involving external partners and tutored by practising designers and design researchers, students determine their own design culture whilst building a portfolio of work that will locate them in their desired professional context. Graduates are creative catalysts and visionaries who go on to become leaders in their respective fields.

The school offers B. Des (4 years) and M.Des (2 years) programs, which prepares the learners with technical skills through the completion of hands-on, practical work alongside presentation and pitching skills, and knowledge of the conceptual design process.

DEAN'S MESSAGE

Our Blog post image goes here

The investigative, speculative aspect of the work of the World University of Design is rethinking the conventions of design practices. For us, an optimistic and essential aspect is the knowledge that our efforts make a difference in the physical environment. The World University of Design offers an exciting setting for interaction and the exchange of ideas through the combination of disciplines—Architecture, Visual Arts, Fashion, Communication, Management and Design—through our B. Arch, B,Des, BVA, BBA, M.Des and MVA Programs. Working in collaboration with Industry, researchers, experts, universities and institutions, we see it as our responsibility to define the necessary framework for an intense yet engaging advancement of transdisciplinary Design Education and hence providing multiplicity and consistency, singularity and diversity.

Our programs have a social dimension aimed at the construction of alternative and sustainable futures, which places it in the ethical and political realm. The complexities of contemporary global and environmental issues—the impact of rapid urbanization; the scarcity of resources; the after-effects of disasters, both natural and manmade; and the continuing inequities between the rich and poor nations of the world—require solutions that are both imaginative and emancipatory. The World University of Design is poised to lead design’s global cause.
