Visual communications effectively uses images to persuade, entertain, inform, and enlighten an observing audience of products, ideas, and messages. Modern visual communicators know how to use various types of visual technology to create artistic images that communicate with the public.

About School

The school offers two extensive programs spanning four years comprising of eight semesters and a diploma programme of 11 months. The programs inculcate a deep understanding of Visual Communication around design and Technology of design in the area of graphic communication, animation, web & game design.

The programs makes students understand people’s needs, identifying opportunities for innovation, visualizing ideas and realizing solutions to present a visual solutions to a buyer or consumer in a the most appropriate way to do business.

The detailed classroom session will impart core visual, creative, technical and analytical skills, along with visual materials technologies, manufacturing processes, trends and sustainability in Visual Communication. The experience of workshops, internships and industry projects at the end of each semester in the hard core Visual Communication industry will make classroom learning complete.

UG PROGRAMMES:

BDes - Graphic & Communication Design

FOCUS: Graphic communication design is the art and practice of planning and projecting ideas and experiences with visual and textual content. This form of communication can be physical or virtual, and may include images, words, or graphic forms. The programme deals with developing skills, understanding & approach towards design, promotional collaterals and communication contents for print, electronic and virtual media.

CONTENT: The students will be exposed to information and communication theory and media studies to design messages to inform, persuade and recall for targeted people and groups in the context of social, cultural, political environment.

BDes - Animation & Game Design

FOCUS: Students the skills and academic knowledge necessary to enter the field of computer animation and the fast-growing field of game design. Gaming is by far the highest-grossing field of the entertainment industry today with people hooked to games on their computers, consoles, mobile devices and anywhere we can imagine.

CONTENT: Through Animation & Game Design, drawings and illustrations are brought to life on digital video or film through the effective use of the latest software for capturing and animating hand-drawn or digitally created imagery. In addition, students explore artistic options and processes through experimental animation and modelling. Combining these modern theories of visual creation with digital imaging, motion capture, multimedia, computer animation, game design and film production, students will get inputs in game design, modelling and technical illustration, as well as in artistic production, exhibition and broadcast.

CAREERS: The range of career opportunities is vast and includes Modelling and technical illustration, Animation and multimedia development, Virtual reality/ Mixed reality production, Entertainment, film production and gaming, Level designing, 3D modelling & Technical illustration.



Diploma PROGRAMMES:

Graphics & Web Design Diploma

FOCUS: Today's graphic designers must know current technologies and be aware of the rapidly changing image market. Graphic and Web Design classes emphasize design and creativity while providing intensive technical training. Instruction is flexible and inclusive, enabling both the beginning and advanced student to make great strides during this course.

CONTENT: In this introduction to visual communication concepts and tools, you learn the fundamentals of typography, graphic design, and layout, as well as digital skills. The class includes basic design, type, image, illustration exercises using Adobe suite. Develop the essential design skills you need to produce graphics for print, advertising, corporate identity, and other interactive media. Website Design concepts, HTML & JavaScript, Search Engine Optimisation, Web Page Design, Mobile aaps, Assignment & Portfolio building are also part of the program.

Swati has a bachelor from College of Art, Chandigarh and a masters in graphic design (visual communication) from NID. In an enriching career, Swati has worked on wide ranging projects including Jaiprakash Narayan Museum, Luchnow; Bihar Museum Project; Raja Ravi Varma Hertage Foundation; Manna Trust, Danone Yogurt, Emantra, Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics etc. She was working as a design consultant with the Design Factory before joining WUD.


A Ph.D in visual communication from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT); Preeti has a M.Phil & MVA in Applied Art from Dr. B.R. Ambedekar University Agra, and BFA in Applied Arts from the Rajasthan School of Art Jaipur. She has been a visiting research fellow at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, School of Design. Her other research interests are in the field of Advertising, Brand identity, Packaging, Visual communication. She presented six papers in international conferences and has been awarded the most distinguished paper presenter at the international conference of research into design ICORD’17. One of her papers has been short listed for young research award. She has 10 years teaching experience in renowned universities and institutes of India among are Amity University, Apeejay college of Fine Arts, District Institute of Education & Training.

Neeraj Rathee is an alumni of College of Art, Delhi (MFA, BFA), University of Delhi with specialisation in Applied Art. He has been awarded with Pt. Ravi Shankar Award & Swapan Biswas Award, highest awards in Applied art specialization along with many prizes. His experience is in the field of Campaign planning, Graphic design and Illustration. He has delivered several guest lectures in College of Art, Delhi for poster design and press design courses.

LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION

The participants took part in the competition to design a logo for the upcoming college fest. A noticible no of entries were received from colleges across Delhi NCR. Exiting prizes were distributed to the winners.

WALL ART WORKSHOPS

The workshop dealt with transformation of space by using the principle of interaction of color. The basic geometric shapes were used to make graphic tape art. The team was divided to work upon various spaces of the college as part of the workshop.

JURIES

The juries took place on the campus of world school of design. External faculties were called to take the juries session for the students of world school of design. Students got a perspective from the experts in the field.
